Broad Band Light (BBL) – Photo Rejuvenation
Laugh lines, blemishes, age spots, and sun damage all detract from your appearance, no matter how young, healthy, and vibrant you feel. Broad Band Light (BBL), also called photo rejuvenation, is a non-invasive process that can treat these types of skin problems without damaging the outer layers of the dermis. This means there is virtually no recovery time – you can even apply makeup and return to work the same day of treatment.
What Is Photo Rejuvenation
Broad Band Light(BBL) is a photo rejuvenation treatment that dramatically reduce freckles, age and sun spots, small facial veins enlarged pores and irregular pigmentation. This results in more uniform, healthy appearing skin. An intense light is applied in a series of pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormal pigmentation and broken blood vessels. The heat causes damage to the targeted area and the body begins its healing process as it releases the pigment. The area will darken before it flakes off or the body reabsorbs it.
When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to a snap of a rubber band. Anesthesia is not required. Treatment can be to full face, neck, chest, arm and hands.
Photo Rejuvenation Treatments
BBL provides gradual improvement rather than immediate results. Depending on the extent of correction the patient is seeking, we recommend anywhere from 2-4 Broad Band Light treatment sessions, spaced three to four weeks apart. Because the treatments are so brief and require little or no recovery, they are ideal for patients with active, busy lifestyles, especially those who don’t have the time to recover from more invasive treatment with laser skin resurfacing or deep chemical peels.
Tip: Going out in the summer without sunscreen is like going out in the winter without a coat. Protect yourself from the elements.
- Use Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection
- Use an SPF of at least 30 on a daily basis & Reapply frequently
- Use waterproof sunscreen for sports or swimming
Photo Rejuvenation Benefits
Expect to see a gradual decrease in hyperpigmentation that is the result of sun damaged skin and a decrease in broken blood vessels with less redness of the skin. The results will be a smoother, more vibrant appearance. There is little or no down time with this procedure. Three to five treatments are recommended four to six weeks apart.
